My name is Julia Carpenter. I am an animal artist and writer. I worked in the past in the wildlife and environmental field, in which I hold academic degrees from Boston University and Tufts.
I have had a lifelong friendship and association, researching, training and caring for animals. I grew up on a horse farm in Vermont. I am also a licensed horseback instructor and trainer. I divide my time between Essex, Massachusetts and Lenoir, North Carolina.
I love spending as much time as possible in the company of animals. I have coined the term “bestiaryist” to describe my work, chronicling the life of individual animals in art and words.
